Phonics First 3 is the third in a series of five comprehensive, fully
integrated, beginning reading programs that incorporate the skills of
word attack, comprehension and spelling.
In Phonics First 3 students master common blends that come at
the beginning and ending of words. For example, 'nd' as in 'wind', 'tr'
as in 'truck', 'sw' as in 'swim' and so on.
Students then reinforce the acquisition of these skills by reading
stories that are structured on the specific phonics skills that have
been taught.
They then demonstrate their comprehension ability by answering a series
of simple questions based on the stories.
Phonics First is suitable for all beginning readers and is also useful
for students in the middle primary years who are experiencing learning
difficulties and reading problems, including those who are dyslexic
or have dyscalculia short-term memory or ADD.
It is also a suitable resource for ESL students - English as a Second
Language.
